- The North Carolina General Assembly will be going into their short session in early May. The public libraries of North Carolina need help from every citizen to keep our funding from being further reduced. Committees are already meeting and decisions are already being made. Please contact your local delegation and ask that the State Aid to Public Libraries Fund be restored to full funding. Our county commissioners are doing all they can to fund the libraries in our county, so it is crucial for the Legislature to restore the 13% we lost last year. The contact information for our delegation is located under the Reference page of our web site. Look for the State links and click on the General Assembly. YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
- The SUMMER READING PROGRAM for ALL ages is just around the corner. New this year is a summer reading database that will allow online registration with activities for the different age groups. This new program was developed by Mauney Memorial Library and now all public libraries in the county will use this program for all summer reading efforts. Look for it to be live by the end of May.
